Each year, on the vibrant occasion of Fagu Purnima (Holi), the 3rd Semester students of the Bachelor in Hotel Management (BHM) program at Gateway College of Professional Studies enthusiastically organize a professional Outdoor Catering (ODC) event. This much anticipated event blends cultural celebration with practical learning, giving students a platform to demonstrate their skills in a real-world hospitality setting.
The ODC is part of the Food and Beverage Service curriculum and serves as a live project where students take complete responsibility for planning, preparing, and executing an off-premise food and beverage service. It includes everything from menu design, food preparation, service setup, event coordination, and customer interaction, to managing hygiene, logistics, and team coordination. The ODC takes place in a festive environment filled with colors, music, and celebration, allowing students to cater to guests while embracing the spirit of Holi. It also reflects Gateway College’s educational philosophy of integrating academic knowledge with practical experience, ensuring that students are industry ready upon graduation.
This annual event continues to be a highlight in the academic calendar and a cherished tradition that brings learning to life.
